Rationaliztion II

I was talking the other day with Ben and he started to refer to an event that took place quite awhile ago (this conversation happened awhile back and i forgot to blog about it). Anyway, he started to remind me of these things that happened during that particular incident and for the life of me i could not remember what he was talking about.

I started to think about it and i eventually remembered the event but the things he was talking about never actually happened. "Ben...umm..." i said, "That didn't actually happen." he looked away and thought for a second, "Wait a second... your right!" he said.

I started to think about the mind's ability to rationalize to the point of incorporating farse memories. Lord knows, it's happened to me plenty of times, not that I can recall any at this particular point in time, of course it always happens that way.

... or maybe i have rationalized that it has happened to me but it really hasn't... then it would have actually happened and has now become a reality...

Or what if all my memories are imaginary incorporated into my long-term memory because of my overactive rationalization!?

Maybe i really need to stop thinking...
